Flying WILD

Festivals in Many FormsBuild a Bird Feeder

With the Flying WILD resources, you have innumerable options for deciding how to utilize your activities. While the Flying WILD guide includes the key ingredients and important advice for helping to implement a full-scale school bird festival, it also is designed for flexibility. It enables educators to use activities in different ways.

One of the goals of the Flying WILD guide is to help educators provide empowerment opportunities for young people so they can take an active role in organizing and implementing a school bird festival. Students develop and put into practice valuable life skills that extend beyond the classroom into the “real world”—letters to write, calls to make, booths to organize, activities to teach, topics to explore, and problems to solve. Planning and hosting a festival enables young people to learn by doing and empowers them as stewards of the community and the environment.

You’ve probably been thinking how much fun a bird festival can be! Have you thought about hosting one? The Flying WILD guide is designed to give you the tools you need to plan and implements an exciting and educational Flying WILD Bird Festival, from early planning sessions and finding donations, to promoting your event and setting it up when the “big day” comes!
