Family Workshops 
Bring the entire family out for games, activities, and learning as we discover science in our backyard! These workshops will include presentations by local expert speakers, live animal demonstrations and hands on experience with leading citizen science programs. The workshops are for all ages, so do not leave any family members out.

Lost Ladybug Day
Saturday, June 2nd 2012
2pm - 4pm
During this workshop, families will learn how to find and identify ladybugs from local experts. Families will participate in a ladybug hunt and learn how to photograph and report sightings as they become citizen scientists in their own backyard.
Founded by Cornell University, the Lost Ladybug Project is a citizen science program that studies ladybug populations and habitat ranges here in the US.
Bird of Prey Family Workshop
Saturday, July 14th 2012
2pm - 4pm
During this workshop, families will see a live bird of prey presentation given by the Pocomoke River State Park 'Scales and Tales' program. In addition families can enjoy fun birding activities and games. There will be a scavenger hunt challenge after the presentation to test participants bird knowledge. Have fun while learning!
A Butterfly Day
September 2012 (date coming soon based on migration)
This workshop will be hosted at Assateague State Park and be focused on Monarch Butterfly tagging and monitoring as their migration passes over the area. Families will hear from a local expert about the science of tagging butterflies and how they can catch and tag butterflies in their own backyards! We will also be going out on the beach to catch and tag the butterflies that migrate down the Assateague coast.
