The Ward Museum is a crucial interdisciplinary learning resource for the Delmarva Peninsula. The museum’s Education Department serves over 10,000 youth and adults every year through a variety of dynamic, hands-on programs, tours, and camps that focus on art, heritage and nature. The museum offers programming to adults, youth and families, teachers and students, homeschool children, scouts and other organized groups.

There are several educational events throughout the year for both youth and adults that include the Student Art Show, the Woodcarving Club and the Ward World Championship Education Conference.

Professional development opportunities are available for formal and non-formal educators through a variety of curriculum trainings and workshops including:

  • Flying WILD: An Educators Guide to Celebrating Birds
  • Growing Up WILD: Exploring Nature with Young Children
  • BirdSleuth: A curriculum that brings science to life through inquiry from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology
  • Pass It On: A K - 12 Traditional Arts Curriculum and Activity Guide

As a Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education Green Center, the Ward Museum also serves as a resource for schools interested in the Green School program.
