Tom Christie

Tom Christie started carving decoys in 19886 to make working decoys along with his plastic rig so he could hunt waterfowl. He joined a local carving club in Ohio and they introduced him to carving competitions. His major influences are Pat Godin, Jett Brunet and Jimmie Vizier. He usually completes decorative carvings but enjoys making working decoys as well to support his sport.

He enjoys teaching seminars at various shows about the country. He finds teaching others his carving techniques is very rewarding. He says that it is nice to give back something to the art form that he loves.

Tom Christie has won numerous Best in Show awards in hunting decoy carving competitions across the country. He is a three time World Champion in the World Shootin’ Rig category, has six Best in Show awards in the Lem and Steve Ward competition, and is the only five-time winner of the International Wildfowl Carvers Association's national hunting decoy championship. Tom lives with his wife and three children in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he works as Vice President of Technology for Lincoln Industries.
