Part-time IT Coordinator


The Ward Museum seeks an IT professional to coordinate and manage the museum technology department.  Qualified person for the part-time position of IT Coordinator will be able to handle a wide range of duties related to IT management in an educational setting, and work efficiently alone as well as alongside volunteers and other staff.  Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and possess strong communication skills.
   
IT Duties
Applicant should demonstrate skills and related experience with configuring servers and workstations, performing and testing routine backups and restores, active directory, and group policy management.  Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware upgrades and maintenance. Provide technical training and documentation to staff. Provide support for website content management system.  Provide support and research improvements for smart classroom environments.  Provide oversight and internal controls for IT security. Manage future IT projects for the Museum in coordination with Salisbury University IT staff.  

IT Experience
Technical knowledge of Windows Server, Windows 7, Backup Exec, Office Professional 2013, and website design; Experience using or maintaining smart classroom technology;
1-2 years demonstrated experience servicing customer’s information technology needs, including hands-on troubleshooting experience.

Education
Associates degree in Computer Science a plus; Microsoft Certifications a plus; must be able to lift 40lbs; valid driver’s license; clear background check.

Hours and Schedule
This part-time non-exempt position is scheduled at 20 hours per week, with flexible hours to be scheduled during the weekday business office hours 8am-5pm.  Additional evening/ weekend hours may be required to support programs and events.

Internships

These are unpaid internships. The Ward Museum will assist the intern in receiving course credit, where available. Course credit ranges from 1-3 credits; work period is January – May; May-July; August-December. Positions are open until filled; if interested submit your resume and cover letter to the contact provided ASAP.

Special Assistant to the Museum Director

The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art seeks a smart, highly-motivated intern to assist the Director’s Office supporting daily operations of not-for-profit arts organization. Excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and to learn about not-for-profit business practices and program planning in an organization that receives funding from a variety of sources: private donors, corporations, foundations and government (local/state/federal).

Duties: Support special projects of the Museum Director, including program and event support, fundraising efforts and administrative tasks. Work assignments will vary from week to week, based on specific needs of the Director’s Office.

Qualifications: 3rd or 4th year students who and have an interest in the arts, cultural issues and the not-for-profit field. Intern must be motivated to work quickly and independently and possess strong writing, communication and technical skills.

Membership Intern

The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art seeks a smart, highly-motivated intern to assist the Membership Office supporting its membership program. Work assignments will vary from week to week, based on specific needs of the Membership Office.

Duties: performance of membership data entry work for renewals, recruitment, and retention of members.
Support mailings and solicitation programs related to membership recruitment and giving campaigns.
Support development of membership incentives and membership activities (including raffles, drawings) as needed.

Photography Intern

The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art seeks a smart, highly-motivated photography intern to assist the museum in capturing its public programs and activities. Work assignments will vary from week to week, based on the public calendar of the museum.

Duties: Using the museum’s public calendar as a guiding tool, the intern will photograph the museum’s public events and programs in Fall 2015. Photographs will be used for marketing and publicity purposes. Student will organize, index and edit photographs for future use, including posts to social media and the museum website www.wardmusuem.org

Qualifications: 2nd, 3rd or 4th year student with proven skills in event or art photography. Student will need to show a small portfolio of work as part of selection process.
• Strong photography skills and digital design/editing ability
• Strong organizational skills and flexible schedule

 

Marketing Intern

The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art seeks a smart, highly-motivated intern to assist the Marketing Office supporting its outreach program. Work assignments will vary from week to week, based on specific needs of the Marketing Office.

Duties: Support prepping marketing materials, requesting donation for events raffles, sell advertising for journal, website content management, social media updates, creating ad copy. Work assignments will vary, based on marketing needs of the museum.

Qualifications: 2nd, 3rd or 4th year student who has an interest in the not-for-profit field. Intern must be motivated to work quickly and independently and possess strong writing, commination and technical skills.

Events Intern

The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art seeks a smart, highly-motivated intern to assist the Events Department supporting its program. Work assignments will vary from week to week, based on specific needs of the Event Department.

Duties: Support prepping events team materials, Worlds Championship Competition (Spring intern), preparations for Chesapeake Wildfowl Expo(fall intern), updating outreach calendars, social media updates. Work assignments will vary, based on event needs of the museum.

Qualifications: 2nd, 3rd or 4th year student who has an interest in the not-for-profit field. Intern must be motivated to work quickly and independently and possess strong writing, commination and technical skills.

Museum Studies Intern

Applied anthropology, sometime referred to as the fifth branch of anthropology, takes anthropology outside of academia and into the professional world. What does applied anthropology look like in a museum setting? It can take many forms, including the curation of and research on material culture and archival documents. This internship will draw on anthropological approaches to tourism, heritage conservation, art, and the environment as the student intern immerses his- or herself in a museum setting, assisting in day-to-day activities of the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art’s Curator and Folklorist. Hands-on experience may be provided in the areas of archival organization, material culture documentation, folklore research and organization, grant writing, non-profit management, and other areas dictated by student interests and museum needs.

Qualifications:
Second, 3rd, or 4th year students with an interest in material culture, heritage conservation, history, and/or anthropology. The intern must be highly-motivated and able to work independently. The intern must also possess strong academic writing and time management skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and be highly organized and show attention to detail.

 

Education Intern

3rd or 4th year students who and have an interest in environmental science and the Green Schools Program. Intern must be motivated to work quickly and independently and possess strong writing, communication and technical skills.

Accounting Intern


The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art seeks a smart, highly-motivated intern to assist the Accounting Office supporting daily operations of not-for-profit organization. Excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and to learn about not-for-profit business practices in an organization that receives funding from a variety of sources: private donors, corporations, foundations and government (local/state/federal).

Duties:
Provide assistance with Accounts payable; Accounts receivable; Credit card reconciliations; Data entry into QuickBooks accounting software; Report generation; Bank Reconciliations; Cash receipts and disbursements Journals; Document filing; Grant report preparation; Tax, labor and insurance report preparation; Month End Journal Entries; Preparation of schedules in support of general ledger accounts, such as prepaid insurance, and deferred revenue.

* These are activities occurring during the intern’s work period at the Ward Museum. Work assignments will vary from week to week, based on specific needs of the Accounting Office.
Qualifications:

Candidates should be majoring in accounting and have an interest in the arts and cultural community and the not-for-profit field. Intern must be motivated to work quickly and independently and possess strong writing skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with a range of computer programs, including the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc).
• Knowledge of QuickBooks preferred.
