Backyards & Birds Crafter Series

 Saturdays in July

Transform your backyard into the perfect place for birds.  With the Ward Museum’s Backyards & Birds Crafter Series, you’ll have opportunities to build bird houses, learn about gardening for birds, paint beautiful screens, and more.  Each class in the series is $50 for museum members and $65 for all others.
 

Birdhouse Workshop
July 1, 1-4pm
$50 for Members and SU Faculty, Staff, & Students; $65 for all others
Transform your yard into a home for birds.  You will build a birdhouse while learning about different birdhouse designs for different species, where to place them for attracting birds and deterring predators, and how to maintain them from year to year.

 

Screen Painting with John Iampieri
July 8, 1-4pm
$50 for Members and SU Faculty, Staff, & Students; $65 for all others
Beautify your home with a hand-painted screen.  Learn about this unique, local art form from master screen painter John Iampieri, and produce the perfect addition to a yard full of birds.

 

Drop-In Art: Birdfeeders
July 15, 10am-12pm
FREE for all ages
For the month of July, the museum’s monthly Drop-In Art program joins the Backyards & Birds Crafter Series!  Children of all ages will craft their own birdfeeders, making their home the coolest place for birds in the neighborhood. No registration required, while supplies last.
 

Gardening for Birds
July 22, 1-4pm
$50 for Members and SU Faculty, Staff, & Students; $65 for all others
Join a registered Master Gardener to learn about how to attract and feed birds using your garden.  Focusing on local, native species, you’ll be led through which plant species to use, how to plant them, how to care for them, and what birds you can expect to see as your efforts pay off.
