Attending a lecture or a workshop is a great way to enhance your visit to the Ward World Championship. Learn techniques to create award winning carvings from champion and professional carvers. Lectures and workshops cover a wide range of topics from novice to advanced techniques and are designed with all audiences in mind; visitors, competitors and judges. Youth ages 17 and under receive FREE admission to lectures and workshops.

SIGNATURE LECTURES IN THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Signature lectures presented in the Performing Arts Center at the Ocean City Convention Center are theater style presentations with visual aids and amplification for educational lectures from leading artists and carvers at the competition. TECHNIQUE WORKSHOPS

Attending a workshop is a great way to build skills and learn new techniques. Or a workshop can be a chance to learn about a whole new style or division. Workshops last 2 hours, and with a class size of 15, they are an excellent way to get up close and personal with carvers and artists in fascinating areas of wildfowl and sculpture art. Workshops cover a wide range of topics from novice to advanced techniques and are designed with all audiences in mind; visitors, competitors and judges. Youth ages 17 and under receive FREE admission to workshops. REGISTER

Enjoy a beautiful sunset aboard the Assateague Explorer while touring the coastal bays around Skimmer Island and the North Shore of Assateague Island National Seashore. Glimpse oystercatchers, cormorants, loons, terns, piping plovers, wild ponies and more! Boat space is limited. Pre-register early to ensure your spot on the boat. Arrive at Talbot Street Pier promptly at 7 pm. REGISTER
KIDS CORNER
Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Children of all ages can enjoy Kid’s Corner. Plan to visit Kid’s Corner for arts and crafts designed to stimulate curiosity and participation in the arts. Featured activities include painting miniature decoys, soap carving and carving using child-safe tools. Carve and Paint the 2017 Youth Silhouette & more!

Youth Thinking Outside the Box for children ages 6 - 14 years old
Lynn Branson leads youth to use and be aware of their own creative imagination. Wood and tools will be provided for children and youth to create their own unique sculpture out of driftwood. Registration required.
Please Note: Conference pricing does not include admission into the competition hall or admission to the Ward Museum. Pre-registration is required for all classes, field trips, workshops and lectures. All classes are subject to cancellation before April 1, 2016. Adult and Youth lectures are on a first come, first serve basis. Workshops, lectures, and field trip balances are due at registration. Member prices are for current Ward Museum Members only. Youth under the age of 18 receive FREE admission to lectures and workshops. Lectures and workshops subject to cancellation without notification. Refunds honored in full upon administrative cancellation of classes/lectures/workshops/field trips.
