Inspired after watching an episode of National Geographic Explorer that featured the works of Tan and Jett Brunet, Welsh has been carving waterfowl in his South Carolina home since 1988. Welsh has been competing in the Ward World Championship since 1990 and has won numerous awards over the years. After finishing third in World Decoy Pairs in 1993 and 1997, he was awarded Best in World in 2002, 2005 and 2014. A past exhibitor at the Southeastern Wildlife Festival in Charleston, Welsh has been juried into the Waterfowl Festival held in Easton, Maryland since 2002. Welsh’s work can be found in private collections across the country.
