Paul Nock

( - ) Maryland

Paul Nock is an Eastern shore man, an artist and a wood carver of the first class. He carves primarily in white cedar and basswood. He started carving because of his fascination with waterfowl. He said that “there is a real challenge to one’s ability to carve and paint them in a realistic manner.” He also said that he was never fully satisfied with his work as an artist.

With his decorative birds they are polychromed and hollowed within half an inch of their skin feathers.
