Richard Reeves began his carving career in 1981 when he was inspired by a duck carving book. As captain of a police force, he needed a stress relieving hobby and found carving an enjoyable activity. In 1997, Reeves took up carving full time when he retired. He has won many awards throughout the country as well as awards at World Ward. In 2000, he took second place in World Pairs and in 2001 and 2007 he won Best in Show for World Pairs. He won Masters Best in Show in 2003 and 2008.
