Professional Development Training for Educators

Training in an assortment of curricula can be scheduled upon special request for groups of 10 or more. Great for professional development days! Curricula that are available here at the Ward Museum include: Growing Up WILD, Project WILD, Project WILD Aquatic, Flying WILD, Project Learning Tree, and Project WET 2.0. All trainings are located at The Ward Museum. Please bring a bagged lunch to each session.

Teacher Resource Kits for Flying WILD and Growing Up WILD

The Ward Museum provides Flying WILD Resource Kits and Growing Up WILD Resource Kits for educators who have received Flying WILD and Growing Up WILD educator training. Details about each kit can be found on our “Educator Resources” page.

MAEOE Green Schools Program

Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) is a nonprofit educational association that encourages, engages, and empowers the community to understand, responsibly use, and promote the natural world. The Maryland Green Schools Program (MDGS) supports Maryland State Department of Education graduation requirements and standards in order for schools to smoothly work towards certification. Every Maryland school can be certified as a Green School through an application process consisting of five steps. The Ward Museum’s Role

As a MAEOE Green Center, the Ward Museum’s goal is to support schools in planning, finding funding, documenting, and assisting with the Green Schools application process. In addition, the Ward Museum desires to model the best environmental practices as well as support community learning.

Free Help with Green School Certification

  • Provide a pre-assessment to determine where the school already incorporates Environmental Education and best environmental practices
  • Introductory consultations and presentations to staff about Green School Program
  • Focused In-service or professional development for teachers
  • Application development and review
  • Webpage (Weebly) construction and assistance
